Fanie Buys

Fanie Buys is a South African born, London-based artist. He graduated from the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town, with a BA in Fine Art in 2016 and is currently pursuing his Master of Fine Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London. Buys exhibits internationally, most recently as part of Fandom at London Art Services and Tenfold at 99 Loop Gallery in Cape Town. He works predominantly as a painter, but his work touches on ceramics, installation, and writing. Buys won the 2023 Abercrombie and Ken Award, a 2024 Elephant Fund Grant, the 2016 Judy Steinberg and Simon Gerson Awards, and has featured in many juried shows such as for the Chelsea Art Society, The Sanlam Portrait Awards, and Hermanus Fynarts
