Magda Greyling

Based in Pretoria, Magda Greyling’s path has taken her from Tarkastad and Hamburg in the Eastern Cape to a life deeply rooted in both art and community. With a background in Fine Art, Social Work, and a Master’s in Sustainable Development in Arts and Crafts, her practice is informed by a profound care for people and place.

 Working primarily in acrylic on board, finished with a soft beeswax sheen, Greyling’s paintings celebrate the beauty, similarity, and diversity of people. Her most recent body of work honours those she calls the “salt of the earth” - individuals whose quiet contributions enrich and sustain South Africa, often outside the spotlight.

 Through her portraits, she invites viewers to see value beyond conventional measures of importance, and to reflect on kindness as an act of resilience and connection.
