Dani le Roy
Born in 1977 in Johannesburg, Dani Le Roy lives and works in Cape Town. With a background in interior design, Le Roy’s practice sits comfortably at the intersection of fine art, space and atmosphere. She completed a Diploma in Interior Design at Design Time School of Interior Design in 1999, a foundation that continues to inform her sensitivity to form, balance and light.
Le Roy presented a solo installation of abstract paintings and lighting at Veo Gallery in Cape Town in 2005, an early indication of her interest in immersive and spatial work. Her work has since been included in a number of notable group exhibitions with SMAC Gallery, including Within the Fold I & II (2022), Loud and Clear, Back in Town and RMB Latitudes (2023).
Most recently, her work was presented at the Investec Cape Town Art Fair in 2024 as part of SMAC Gallery’s booth at the CTICC. Le Roy’s work is characterised by a quiet confidence and a refined abstract language, offering works that feel both contemporary and deeply considered.
