Katrine Claassens is an artist, writer and environmental communications specialist. She has a Master's degree in Climate Change from the University of Cape Town (2015) and an Honour's degree in Visual Art from Stellenbosch University (2007).

Her work reflect her interests in climate change, deep ecology, urban ecology, and internet memes. As well as practicing as a painter, Katrine has worked as climate change communicator at the African Climate & Development Initiative at the University of Cape Town and environmental organisations in Canada. She has led workshops, given public lectures and curated exhibitions all over the world from the Arctic to Antarctica. She is a writer and illustrator for The Nature of Cities.  She currently lives and works in Montreal.
